Acting Lass made a perfect start to his racing career with a clear cut success in the first division of the two mile, three and a half furlong novice hurdle at Hereford on Wednesday.

A lovely, big attractive son of King's Theatre out of a winning chaser, he was in training with us last season but we felt he needed time to mature and he has certainly benefited from a summer out to grass.

We've always believed Acting Lass's future lies over fences so we were delighted to see him make such an encouraging debut over hurdles despite showing signs of inexperience.

He began to make ground in the final mile, moved up to lead two flights from home and galloped on strongly to beat Bradford Bridge by eleven lengths.

Noel Fehily reported that Acting Lass was quite green in the early stages before gradually working his way into contention and then keeping on in a pleasing manner to seal an impressive victory.

Hopefully there is more to come from him in the months ahead.
