Star of the show
Unowhatimeanharry was the star of the show at Newbury on Friday on his first appearance in the colours of his new owner JP McManus.
Having made relentless progress last season for the Harry Fry Racing Club he looked to have made significant improvement again as he galloped to a decisive victory in the Grade 2 bet365 Long Distance Hurdle.
On form and ratings he had plenty to do but you would not have known it as he travelled with eye-catching ease, jumping fluently, before easing into the lead after the second last flight and readily pulling clear of the favourite Ballyoptic.
I don't mind admitting it was a performance that took my breath away as I never dared to dream he would win like that.
Although Unowhatimeanharry is not the biggest Barry Geraghty was surprised at how physically strong he felt through the race.
The horse's programme is straightforward for the rest of the season with Ascot's Long Walk Hurdle the next target on the road to Cheltenham.
I am thrilled to bits with Unowhatimeanharry who gave us our first winner at the Festival in March and is now near the head of the market for the World Hurdle.
