Misty Whisky fulfilled the promise of her debut second at Aintree last month with a fluent success in the Mares bumper at Ludlow on Wednesday.

An attractive grey owned and bred by Distillery Stud she is a half sister to Air Horse One and was surprisingly green on her first start in a race run at a sedate pace before finishing well to be beaten less than two lengths by Sojourn.

The benefit of that experience was evident at Ludlow where she travelled smoothly just off the pace before coming with a steady run to lead over a furlong out and then keeping on strongly to beat List One by three lengths.

It was good to see Misty Whisky take a nice step forward despite again showing signs of greenness in front on soft ground that she relished.

She was given an excellent ride by Sean Bowen who comes in once a fortnight at Seaborough and is a top class alternative when Noel Fehily is not available.

The option now is to run Misty Whisky in another bumper under a penalty or keep her for the Listed bumper at Market Rasen which could also be on the radar for Tuesday’s winner Whitehotchillifili.
