Shraaoh won stylishly at Goodwood on Friday night on his second start since joining us early this year.

An attractive five year old gelding by Sea The Stars, he had decent form for Sir Michael Stoute and split Dal Harraild and Move Up in a tight photo finish at Glorious Goodwood in 2016.

I was thrilled that Shraaoh was sent to us by his new owners for a campaign on the flat after they bought him for 30,000 Guineas at the Horses in Training sale last October.

Given that he hadn’t won for two years we were delighted with his debut for us when he was close fourth at Newmarket three weeks ago despite being a bit too fresh.

We were hopeful he could take a step forward at Goodwood in a Class 3 Handicap over a mile and three quarters off a mark of 91 and he duly delivered under a typically patient ride from Jamie Spencer on his 38th birthday.

Hopefully there is more to come from Shraaoh as he was well on top of the 13-8 favourite Sky Eagle at the line after easing into the lead in the final furlong.

It fair to say I am very much enjoying training a handful of nice flat horses over the summer and would be delighted to be sent a few more.
