Valuable success for Whisky
Misty Whisky finished fast and late to gain a valuable success in the final of the EBF Mares bumper series at Sandown in testing ground on Saturday.
The result came as a welcome pick me up for her owner breeder Robert Robinson whose Distillery Stud bred One For Rosie, incorrectly named the winner of the EBF Matchbook Final by the judge an hour earlier before his decision was reversed.
The good news for Robert is that in addition to the prize money won by Misty Whisky he also picked up a further £10,000 under the NH MOPS bonus scheme.
Once clear she began to make relentless progress and ate up the ground so quickly that late in the final furlong she dashed through a gap between the two leaders to snatch the verdict in the final few strides.
It was thrilling to watch and further confirmation that we have an extremely talented team of bumper horses who will be going hurdling next season.
It’s unlikely that any of the trio that ran at Sandown will appear in the Mares bumper at Aintree.
More immediately we are very much looking forward to Cheltenham where we will probably have five runners over the four days.
With the team in top form at home we go there with high hopes.
