Perfect return for Lady
Consolation was a long time coming for Lady Of Lamanver who finally gained a thoroughly deserved first success at Fontwell on Friday 587 days after she was disqualified and placed second after her gutsy triumph in the EBF mares' final at Newbury in April last year.
That was hard to take as the interference she caused was minimal and injury was added to insult when we discovered that the mare had damaged a tendon that day.
She returned home to Cornwall to the excellent care of her owner breeder Dr Donna Christensen and was given plenty of time to recover.
Having missed last season we were delighted to see Lady Of Lamanver back in training this autumn.
As she has been going well on the gallops we were hopeful she could start to make up for lost time at Fontwell and she won well from the front despite idling a little in the closing stages.
The long term plan is for Lady Of Lamanver to return to Newbury next March to win the same EBF and TBA Novice Hurdle Finale so that she can finally put the record straight almost two years later!
Before then we can mix and match with her in novice hurdles and mares' handicaps as she progresses.
Lady Of Lamanver is also now qualified for the final of the Challenger Mares Hurdle Series so we have some interesting options for her.
Meanwhile her younger full sister Lamanver Odyssey runs tomorrow at Wincanton in the same colours in the £25,000 Mares' Handicap Hurdle.
