Bags Star of the Show
A hectic Saturday for the team yielded two winners, lots of placed horses and a sense of relief that the rain has finally arrived to let us get on with the important business of running our horses.
Pride of place goes to Bags Groove who delivered our first Graded success since April last year with an impressive victory from the front in the Rising Stars Novice Chase at Wincanton.
Watching him soar over the fences was poetry in motion with Noel Fehily superb in controlling the tempo throughout.
Noel feels that Bags Groove is at his most potent on decent ground on flat tracks so we will come up with a plan and might even try stepping him up to three miles at some point as he is out of a half sister to Imperial Call.
Minella Awards had given us a perfect start to the day by jumping fluently as he made all the running and won the three mile novice chase at Aintree easily.
He was given a confident ride by Sean Bowen who we would like to use on a regular basis this winter.
Unowhatimeanharry kept on well to finish third in the Class 2 Hurdle at Aintree. He most likely heads next to Newbury for the Long Distance hurdle in which he escapes a penalty for past triumphs.
He is entitled to improve for the run on his first outing since a little setback ruled him out of the Cheltenham Festival.
With several more of our horses performing with great promise on Saturday the signs are highly encouraging for the weeks ahead.
