Chepstow success for Lass
It was great to see Acting Lass back in winning form at Chepstow on Saturday after a challenging time when he ran only once last season.
He was out of action for a lengthy period after treatment for kissing spines and he took a while to make a full recovery.
But there was some encouragement to be taken from his return at Ascot last month and testing conditions were ideal for him at Chepstow.
We hadn’t initially planned to run him in the Coral Welsh National Trial but made the entry when we noticed the race had only attracted ten or so horses.
With only six declared it looked the perfect opportunity for Acting Lass though he almost spoiled the script with a bad mistake at the second last fence.
It is always pleasing to watch a good horse bounce back after a training setback and the future certainly looks a lot brighter for Acting Lass now.
Although he is in a valuable race at Ascot in a fortnight that may come a little bit too soon for him and there are plenty of other options in January including the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock.
