A double at Taunton on Wednesday maintained the sparkling form of our team and it was so nearly a treble with Lamanver Odyssey just beaten by a whisker in the final race at Hereford after making all the running until she was caught in the final strides.
While it is hard to be sure I thought we were probably beaten at the time though Kieron Edgar felt his mount had a bit more to give.
Space Oddity settled well in front and has now won twice in ten days which is very pleasing.
He is due to go up 10 lbs on Saturday and is definitely going the right way.
Earlier Bags Groove gained a timely first success over hurdles after an unlucky defeat at Newbury on his previous outing.
It was good to see him get his head in front which should give him a bit of confidence.
He jumps very well, is learning all the time, and was staying stoutly at the finish.
I did enter Bags Groove in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury but he lacks the pace for that so I am thinking of sending him to Huntingdon next for the Listed Sidney Banks Memorial Novices’ Hurdle on February 9 over a trip just short of two and a half miles.
