Fehily positive on Odyssey

Lamanver Odyssey gained her first success over hurdles at Exeter on Thursday with the help of a typically positive ride by Noel Fehily.

It was a timely pick me up for the stable after our highly rated novice Bags Groove was caught in the final strides at Newbury the previous afternoon.

Lamanver Odyssey won her bumper for Tom Lacey last season before joining us this Autumn.

She is a full sister to Lady of Lamanver who landed the Listed final of the mares hurdle series at Newbury in the spring for her Cornish based owner breeder Dr Donna Christensen before losing the race in the stewards room.

We then discovered that she had suffered a leg injury in the race at Newbury which has put her on the sidelines this season.

So Donna was overdue a bit of good fortune and got it as Lamanver Odyssey gained her maiden victory over hurdles in style at Exeter.

She has progressed with each run and with no obvious pace setter in the field Noel was brilliant dictating matters out in front.

Lamanver Odyssey is only four, seems to be progressing nicely, stays well and relished the prevailing testing conditions on Thursday.

If she continues to go the right way then hopefully she might be able to head to Newbury in the spring to try to seek compensation for the reverse suffered by her full sister in the mares final
