Keeping Busy at Goffs

With over 500 lots catalogued to sell over two days we made sure we were at the Goffs sale complex a day and a half before bidding commenced to have a good look at the bloodstock on offer. We purchased four geldings on Day 1, a 4-y-o by Beneficial and 3-y-o’s by Mahler, Oscar and Brian Boru.

Mahler is of course by the top sire Galileo and so is an exciting recruit to the National Hunt stallion scene, with his 3-y-o’s being his first crop. This gelding is out of a winning chaser and closely related to the Gr. 2 winning Juvenile hurdler Spirit of Park.

Having had a lot of success with Oscar progeny we were thrilled to get our hands on a son of his out of the Gr. 1 placed chaser Be My Leader, herself a three-time winner. The family goes back to the legendary One Man and is a first horse for new owners Andy & Sharon Measham.

As a half brother to the very talented Last Instalment we have high hopes for the third horse, an athletic son of Brian Boru.

Beneficial needs no introduction as a sire having topped the leading sire’s table on both sides of the Irish Sea for the 2012-13 NH season. This fourth horse, a gelding, was bought on spec as he looks a racehorse and is out of a half sister to twelve-time winner Boss Doyle.
