Today felt like the start of a new school term as we began to bring the horses back into training and they have all, without fail, done much better than they did last summer. Having started off with just over 20 horses in training last October we are really looking forward to starting this season with 40+.

Stable star Rock On Ruby, along with Racing Plus Chase winner Opening Batsman were two of the older horses that came in. A final decision has yet to be reached on which route Rock On Ruby will take this season, but we hope to start Opening Batsman off in the United House Gold Cup at Ascot on Saturday 2nd November.

These two were joined by prolific mare Violin Davis and exciting novice hurdler for this year Oscar Rock, who has really strengthened up over the summer. Karinga Dancer, we hope, will develop into a top novice chaser and will be joined by the 7-y-o Mendip Express in going down the novice chase route having won all 5 of his English Point to Points last season for Richard Barber.

Also from the English pointing field is the unbeaten 4-y-o Thomas Brown and the highly regarded Urban Hymn, both of whom stick to our ethos of developing the youth.

New additions to the team include Irish Point to Point winner Fletchers Flyer, owned by Masterson Holdings Limited and they are a new owner that we are particularly delighted to get the chance to train for. Recent acquisition Vauban Du Seuil, our first purchase from France is another interesting recruit to the team.

With others to return at the end of the month and through August, it is an exciting time of year as we dream for the season ahead.
