Ruby Rocks On At Plumpton

Rock on Ruby came through his debut over fences at Plumpton today with flying colours.

OK, the opposition was not too strong but apart from one mistake the horse jumped well and sensibly before easing into the lead after the final fence.  It was just what I hoped to see after a long and successful career over hurdles.

Noel Fehily reported that he was really happy with the way Ruby jumped on ground that was way too soft for him.  He felt he was really quite clever at some of his fences.

Ruby needs more experience over the bigger obstacles if he is to tackle the Arkle Chase at The Festival, which is the target I have in mind for him.  So I am hoping to find another little novice chase for him before going for the Lightning Novices' Chase at Doncaster in late January.
