Sam Impresses on Debut
Over The Sam made a highly pleasing debut over hurdles at Exeter on Tuesday which offered plenty of promise for the future.
His clear cut success in the closing novice hurdle completed an exciting few days for the Jago family whose smart young chaser American won so well at Warwick in Saturday.
The bonus was that Noel Fehily was back in action so quickly after a nasty fall at Warwick. He is such a key part of our team, at home and on the track.
Over To Sam joined us after winning his only Point-to-Point for the Hamilton family in the Border Country.
He was bought with chasing in mind and you could see why as he jumped fluently at Exeter, travelling strongly, before leading two out and winning with something to spare.
We went into yesterday thinking Sam was very much an unknown quantity. He is just workmanlike at home, so doesn’t show us an awful lot, but saying that he has needed time to just fill his frame.
The form looks solid as he beat the same horse that finished second to Neon Wolf at Exeter on New Year’s Day.
We will look for another novice under a penalty next for Over To Sam who is already looking like an exciting recruit.
