Bitofapuzzle extended our good run of results with a decisive success in the Listed Mares' bumper at Huntingdon on January 2nd.

Full marks to the racecourse, the BHA and the Levy Board for agreeing to save the race once the Boxing Day meeting, when it was originally scheduled, was abandoned.

It was an attractive, valuable prize for mares and Bitofapuzzle very much looked the part as she made all the running and readily held the persistent challenge of the favourite Tara Mist by four lengths.

I was confident she would handle the testing conditions and as she will stay further in due course it made sense to keep things simple by controlling the race from the front.  She showed signs of inexperience but that is hardly surprising given that this was only her third start.  She remains unbeaten and has an exciting future.  Noel Fehilly has no doubt that she will make a lovely jumper but feels there is no hurry to send her hurdling.

I imagine her next outing will be in the mares' bumper at Sandown in March, the weekend before the Cheltenham Festival.
