Breeders searching for a suitable mare for the paddocks will have the chance to bid for Violin Davis at the Doncaster Sales at the end of the month.

Given her superb record for us last winter I will be sorry to see her go.  With four consecutive wins over fences in double quick time Violin Davis made a massive contribution in my first season as a trainer.

I'm a great believer in the Mares only chasing programme. It is a really positive incentive for owners to put their mares in training rather than just keep them for breeding.  Things have been a bit tougher for Violin Davis this campaign against the geldings from her new handicap mark which is understandable.

We did consider running her once more at Wincanton on Thursday before deciding it would be unwise to be taking a risk in such testing conditions so close to her date in the sales ring.

As the winner of eight races I'm sure Violin Davies will attract plenty of interest at Doncaster. Hopefully one day I may get the chance to train some of her offspring.
