Rock On Ruby booked his ticket for Cheltenham with a flawless jumping performance in his second novice chase at Doncaster on earlier today.

An exceptionally wet winter has hampered our plans to run him more over fences over the past few months. Our hands have been tied by heavy ground at so many tracks.  Ruby had had plenty of practise on our schooling grounds but it was obviously a relief to be able to give him another outing today.  He really pleased me with his fluent, accurate jumping as he made all the running at a decent pace from his sole rival Mr Mole.

Ruby thrives at this time of year and I would expect him to have improved from this success when he appears next in The Arkle Chase at the Festival.  March seems to bring out the best in him and this run will put him spot on for Cheltenham. We now have five weeks to put the finishing touches on him.  He's a reliable horse with experience at the very highest level at the Festival where he has a superb record.

Noel Fehily was thrilled with Ruby's jumping and confirmed that he would be even better on faster ground.  It is fair to say we were both very happy with the horse's performance.

Rock On Ruby makes it two from two over fences with a win earlier today at Doncaster.
Thanks to Steffan Rees for this great shot of him in action.
