Cracked It at Ascot
I was thrilled to see Jolly's Cracked It make a highly impressive debut over hurdles at Ascot on Saturday.
A minor setback after his victory in a bumper at Wincanton in January meant that we were unable to run him again last season.
And he showed his inexperience on Saturday after cruising into the lead approaching the second last in a competitive looking £17,000 Novices' Hurdle.
He had jumped really well up to that point but made a mistake there. It made no difference as he was already in command at the time and won stylishly in the end from the favourite Clondaw Banker.
I thought Jolly's Cracked It oozed class, but he did look a bit green in front when he was a bit tired and will improve for the outing.
He is a big horse who has taken time to strengthen up and has needed plenty of schooling over hurdles at home.
Jolly's Cracked It is an exciting prospect who, all being well, will return to Ascot for the next meeting at the track.
His success on Saturday was the perfect result for his owner breeder Danny Charlesworth who now sponsors our yard through his company Citibet.
