We have high hopes of this pair who were making their debuts over hurdles and they both won in a manner that promised plenty for the future.
First up in the staying novices hurdle was Thomas Brown, successful twice in point-to-points before an excellent first season for us in bumpers.
Noel Fehily sensibly decided to force the issue from half-way as the early pace was not strong and Thomas Brown kept on strongly in the closing stages to hold the second favourite Vago Collonges with something to spare.
We know he is a stayer, he will improve in a more strongly run race, and all being well he will go next for another novice hurdle at Newbury on Hennessy weekend.
Jollyallan was just as impressive in winning the novice hurdle over seventeen furlongs despite looking very green for a moment after the last hurdle when he did not seem to know what was required.
But with champion jockey AP McCoy in charge he rallied quickly when challenged by King's Tempest and was well on top at the line.
On this showing I'd like to think he will give JP a lot of fun in the coming years.
