Zulu Makes Amends

Zulu Oscar got his season firmly back on track with a fine round of jumping from the front on his way to his first win over hurdles at Taunton on Thursday.

He has had plenty of schooling since that unfortunate incident at Kempton last month when he stumbled and lost his jockey Noel Fehily on landing over the first flight.

Yet his jumping has always been good at home and it showed on Thursday as he popped nimbly over his hurdles without a semblance of a mistake under Ryan Mahon.

Zulu Oscar won on two of his three bumper starts last season before a minor setback forced us to draw stumps with him.

It's good to see him return in such good form as he's a horse we like and has scope for further improvement in the months ahead.

The trainer is under pressure to do well with this one as he is owned by my mother Caroline in partnership with Susie Dilhorne!
