Ruby delights in Relkeel
It was great to see Rock on Ruby back in the winner's enclosure on Saturday as he took our score to twenty for the season with a comfortable victory in the Osborne House Relkeel Hurdle over two miles, four and a half furlongs.
We decided in the summer to bring him back to hurdles as it became clear he was not a natural over fences.
While Ruby is obviously not a slow horse we feel he can still be very competitive over distances in excess of two miles.
Noel Fehily was thrilled with the way he travelled and jumped on Saturday as he readily saw off the classy Volnay de Thaix from the front.
It helped that Ruby was suited by the conditions of the race as he was not required to carry a penalty for past glories.
A return to Cheltenham could well be on the cards for him as there is a similar race over the same trip on New Year's Day.
Further ahead I am not in a hurry to make any sort of commitment for him in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle
