Desert Queen looked to be a mare with a decent future as she made a highly impressive winning debut at Sandown on Friday.

She joined us a few weeks ago after her second successive point-to-point success at Wadebridge either side of Christmas.

I was hoping to start her off in a mares bumper at Warwick but when that meeting was called off it made sense to switch her to hurdles as she jumps for fun.

Desert Queen was taking on some nice mares on Friday who set the standard so it was hugely encouraging to see her dominate throughout before pulling well clear of the favourite Dolores Delightful.

All she does is jump, gallop and stay and the plan is to give her one more run in three weeks time before the ground dries up.

On Friday's showing she is certainly one for next season.
