A cross the card double in the space of little more than ten minutes on Thursday maintained the excellent recent form of the team.

Template, owned by the Coral Champions Club, was the first to strike at Market Rasen with the help of a fine ride by Liam McKenna who joined us in August.

The pair led going to the last flight and stayed on well to hold the challenge of Renoyr with something to spare.

It was the first victory in this country for Liam on his second ride for the stable. He has also ridden seven winners in Ireland.

I was pleased to see Template confirm the promise of his encouraging first run for us at Taunton last season.

As the race at Market Rasen was for conditional jockeys and amateurs Template escapes without a penalty for this success. So I might well turn him out again fairly quickly.

Water Willow then completed a fine afternoon for us by making all the running in the three year old fillies bumper at Towcester to give Noel Fehily his 1001st winner in this country.

Noel was at his best here, dictating the pace from the front, saving ground the whole way by hugging the rail and keeping enough in reserve on Water Willow for the final demanding hill finish.

I had reservations beforehand about her ability to handle the tiring ground but she found more than enough to see off the favourite Passmore.

Water Willow is out of a successful flat race mare Water Flower and has always shown a good attitude at home which bodes well for the future.
