I am delighted to report that Mick Jazz is on the road to recovery after suffering from atrial fibrillation of the heart when he was pulled up in the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham on Sunday.

We sent him to the Rossdales Veterinary Practice in Newmarket that evening so that he could be under the care of Celia Marr who treated both Denman and Sprinter Sacre for similar problems.

The good news is that when Celia examined Mick Jazz on Sunday night the ECG showed that his heart rate had already returned to normal.

Apparently his heart had already reset itself naturally which was a big relief. All being well the horse will return here in the next few days and have an easy time while we monitor his progress.

We will give him a chance to get over what was a nasty ordeal for him.

Then if he continues to give us the right signals he can hopefully start cantering again.

Provided that goes well we will steadily increase his daily exercise with a view to running him again in January.
