Puzzle stars in Exeter double
A double at Exeter on Thursday took our score to eight winners from sixteen runners in the last fortnight.
With thirty one winners already this season we could not be more delighted with the form of the team.
We are closing fast on our best total of 37 winners last season and have some exciting runners at Ascot over the next two days.
Bitofapuzzle made the ideal start to her chasing career with an impressive all the way success in the Mares Novices' Chase at Exeter.
She attacked the first four fences like an old hand, was in charge throughout and won unchallenged.
When Noel Fehily looked round at half-way he could not believe how far they were in front. Bitofapuzzle did idle a little bit in the closing stages but she had already put her seal on the race by then.
I'm not sure where she will go next but I'll try to give her more practise in similar races before letting her take her chance against the best novices at the Festival meetings in the spring.
She is a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and I am certainly hoping she will be good enough over fences to take on the best boys before the end of the season.
Jessber's Dream provided the first leg of our double with a comfortable triumph under a penalty in the Mares' Novices Hurdle.
She can get quite hot at times so we do have to mind and manage her at home.
Although she was sweating freely by the time she reached the start she was fine once the race was under way and won with the minimum of fuss.
Jessber's Dream is certainly going the right way with three wins already from four career starts.
