Chalonnial made the perfect start to his racing career with an impressive winning debut in the bumper at Wincanton on Thursday.

It was the first time he has ever set foot on grass so he was understandably green through the race before finishing so strongly Noel Fehily had a job to pull him up after passing the winning line.

It looked as though he was only getting going at the finish which is always a good sign.

We bought Chalonnial two years ago in France. He has always been a lovely, attractive big horse and as he is a half brother to Activial we hope and believe he will enhance his family's reputation.

We have been patient with this exciting young horse who should have bags of improvement to come as he develops and gets bigger and stronger.
