Duo off the mark
A cross the card double on Friday took our score for the season to 45 winners.
Hell's Kitchen was the first to strike in the two and a half mile novice hurdle at Newbury. A big scopey, exciting prospect, he beat the warm favourite Walking In the Air with something to spare despite looking inexperienced on only the second start of his life.
The bonus was that his owner JP McManus was at Newbury to watch him win.
Hell's Kitchen is very much a work in progress so we will not be in a hurry with him and his future is definitely as a chaser.
It was good to see him take a big step forward from a promising first run at Kempton in January where he finished a little sore after bruising a foot.
Hopefully he will be able to run again this season before the ground goes against him.
Presenting Arms then made a perfect start to his chasing career with a stirring victory in the novice chase at Doncaster.
I thought his chance had gone when the ground turned soft but he jumped well throughout, laid down a strong challenge going to the final fence, landed in front there and held the odds on favourite Coologue by half a length on the flat.
