Ridgeway makes it 50
A week after our first success at the Cheltenham Festival we had further cause for celebration when Ridgeway Flyer provided our fiftieth winner of the season in the final race at Ludlow on Thursday.
At the start of the campaign our first target was to beat our previous best totals of winners and prize money.
We were also hoping we might achieve our first half century if things worked out well and we have done it with just over a month to spare.
With a bit of luck we should kick on now and increase our score in the next few weeks.
We thought we had three decent chances on Thursday, but things did not work out for Ivor's Queen at Chepstow and then Presenting Arms almost fell when looking to hold every chance in the two mile chase at Ludlow.
It was beginning to feel like a batsman in the nervous nineties before Ridgeway Flyer delivered a landmark triumph for our stable in the bumper with the help of a flawless Noel Fehily ride from the front.
He is from the family of the prolific point-to-point winning mare Lucette Annie and is a nice prospect for the future.
Ridgeway Flyer is unlikely to run again this season and we will decide in the autumn if he goes for one more bumper or switches to hurdles
