Wotzizname looks smart
A cross the card double on Thursday maintained our successful start to the season.
Wotzizname was the first to strike with a notable victory in the staying novice hurdle at Uttoxeter.
Shrugging off a 6lbs penalty for his recent win at Exeter he travelled strongly throughout before pulling readily clear in the closing stages.
Sean Bowen, riding for us for the first time, was suitably impressed and no wonder as you could not fault the the horse's performance. The further he goes the better he looks.
I originally tried to buy Wotzizname after he showed smart form in point-to-points. His owner Charles Horton was reluctant to sell so I was delighted when he decided to put the horse in training with me.
Wotzizname remains a novice over hurdles until November 1st. But his owner is a chasing enthusiast and we are both looking forward to seeing the horse tackling fences in the future.
He is one we can dream about.
Zulu Oscar completed a rewarding day for the team with a narrow success in the selling hurdle at Newton Abbot.
It was the fifth time he had won for us and the last as he was subsequently sold at the auction for £13,500.
He cost only £5000 and earned around £27,000 in prize money for his owners who, I'd like to think, will be investing in another horse sooner rather than later.
