Behind Time gained his first success for his owner JP McManus in the conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at Cheltenham on Sunday.

A progressive novice last season he is a chaser in the making and we were very hopeful that he would go close from a mark of 115.

But while he did win well in the end he was green throughout the race, giving his hurdles plenty of height, before drifting left and right on the run-in as he showed his inexperience.

It was clear that Behind Time is still very much learning his trade. At this stage he is a big, raw baby with plenty of potential.

He didn't look to have a hard race so provided he is fine in the next 48 hours we will look to run him again in the next twelve days without a penalty.

I was asked at Cheltenham to compare Behind Time with Unowhatimeanharry who won this race for us twelve months ago.

But they are different types as Unowhatimeanharry already had plenty of experience before he joined us while Behind Time is very much a work in progress.
