Voix D'Eau wins again
The decision to withdraw Voix D’Eau from the Doncaster Sales in May has paid handsome dividends for his team of syndicate owners over the last six weeks.
He won nicely at Worcester early in July and added a second more valuable victory at Southwell on Sunday off a mark of 139.
He was well ridden on both occasions by our talented amateur Aine O’Connor who gets a good tune out of him. Her claim will now be reduced to 5lbs.
The key to Voix D’Eau is top of the ground which he must have to produce his best form. He led pretty much throughout on Sunday, jumping soundly, and rallied bravely when briefly headed on the run-in by the in form Too Many Diamonds with the rest of the field well beaten off.
This was arguably his best performance since he won at Cheltenham over two years ago.
It was good to be back in the winning groove at Southwell after a frustrating spell for the yard in the past six weeks or so. We were winning this race for the second year running having scored with Art Of Payroll 12 months ago.
With nearly all the horses back in training after their summer break we are already looking ahead to early October when we can expect to have plenty of runners provided we get sufficient rain by then.
