Sam in overdue success

Over To Sam gained an overdue first victory over fences at Plumpton on Monday in taking style.

Given that he has had more than his share of issues and has very few miles on the clock we were delighted to see him put it altogether on the track in the colours of the Jago Family.

He didn’t jump with any fluency at all last time at Aintree but was much better in the Class 3 novices' handicap at Plumpton where he led led before two out and was in command by the final fence.

He looked highly promising when he made an impressive winning start for us over hurdles early in 2017 but things have been far from straightforward since then.

Even so we’d like to think there is more to come from Over To Sam. The question now is whether to go for another novice event with him under a penalty or be brave and have a crack at a big staying handicap like the Eider Chase at Newcastle.

It is a nice dilemma to have though the chief thing is keeping him sound which hasn’t always been possible.
