Dalila makes a winning debut
Dalila Du Seuil made a pleasing winning debut in this country in a valuable Mares’ Novice Chase at Exeter on Thursday.
A classy grey mare in France where she won three times from the front, she was sent to us in August by JP McManus and has a current BHA rating of 149.
Given that Dalila Du Seuil is a buzzy, free going type who has been keen in her races so far we wanted to try dropping her in and getting her to settle at Exeter on her first start for more than 400 days.
It was good to see Dalila Du Seuil jumping well and steadily moving into contention turning into the straight.
Barry was always quite confident from that point and made his challenge going to the last fence which our mare cleared nimbly while Kalahari Queen made a telling error. This allowed Dalila Du Seuil to win cosily.
We’d like to think there is improvement to come from this smart recruit to the yard and imagine she will be out again in a similar Mares’ Novice Chase in a few weeks time.
