Ridgeway works hard
Ridgeway Flyer provided our 65th winner of the season with a hard earned victory in a novice hurdle at Taunton on Thursday evening.
I thought he did well to come out on top in a race which turned into a bit of a farce as it was run at a stop start pace on ground that was plenty quick enough for him despite the good job Taunton has done in watering the track.
At one stage going down the back straight for the last time it looked as though Harry Skelton might have stolen an unassailable lead on Sand Blast but Niall Madden kept persevering and his mount responded willingly to the point that they had closed the gap between the last two flights.
He is running out of options now as he is only a novice for eight more days. As he wants easier conditions underfoot I'd imagine he will have a nice summer break now before coming back into training in the autumn.
