Sting Strikes

Winning a second bumper under a penalty is never easy so we were delighted to see Just A Sting maintain his 100 per cent record at Exeter on Tuesday.

With Noel Fehily feeling off colour our assistant Mikey Legg was the obvious replacement as he rode the horse when he made a successful debut at Bangor in January.

Mikey did a good job again, having Just A Sting in the right place behind the leaders before taking up the running over two furlongs from home.

While Canford Chimes then looked a big danger in the closing stages Just A Sting kept on in determined style to seal victory by half a length despite showing signs of greenness.

Mikey reported that he was idling in front, not doing much before responding gamely once he was challenged by the runner up. It was encouraging to hear him say he felt there was still plenty left in the tank at the finish.

That is probably it for the season for Just A Sting, a nice, big scopey five year old who should only get better with time. He will be going straight over hurdles in the autumn.
