Hell's bounces back to form
Hell’s Kitchen bounced back to form on Saturday with a stylish victory in the £21,896 Class 2 Handicap Chase at Ascot over two miles, three furlongs, a trip that is ideal for him.
A very big, free running type he is something of an enigma but is smart on his day and did well to win nicely by two and a quarter lengths from Janika despite tanking through the first half of the race.
We will see how the handicapper reacts before making any plans though it is quite possible we will have to raise our sights with him to graded company.
A good day looked like getting much better with our brilliant flagbearer Unowhatimeanharry jumping slickly and travelling with eye-catching ease close behind the leader Agrapart in the Long Walk Hurdle.
So it was surprising and very disappointing to see him take a heavy fall at the eighth flight.
He was fine afterwards thank goodness and even jumped the last four fences as he headed back towards the grandstand.
It was Unowhatimeanharry’s first fall in thirty starts and you’d have to think he would have been bang there at the finish but for the mishap.
While he will be eleven when he runs next we are full of hope that he will be winning again this season.
