Jolly's cracks It
Jolly’s Cracked It rolled back the years at Ascot with a fluent victory almost four years after he won The Ladbroke at the same course.
Off the track for 706 days with a tendon injury he had been going well at home and had been dropped a few pounds by the handicapper after his long absence.
But he still had it to do giving weight all round in the Class 2 Coutts Handicap Hurdle to some decent race fit rivals.
Jolly’s Cracked It was as keen as ever in the race, travelling powerfully just behind the leaders, before moving smoothly to the front, winging the final flight and readily holding the persistent challenge of Chatez.
It was great to see the patience of his owners The GDM Partnership rewarded with such an uplifting success which was his fourth at Ascot.
Top marks also to my team for their hard work in getting this horse back to the racecourse in such good shape, in particular to Harry Ryall who led him up & rides him everyday at home.
Provided Jolly’s Cracked It is fine in the morning we will bring him back to Ascot in a month’s time for the Ascot Handicap Hurdle (formerly the Ladbroke).
