Desert at her best
Desert Queen was at her imperious best in winning the Listed Mares' Novices Chase at Leicester on Tuesday in tremendous style.
She looked a class apart as she made all the running, jumping boldly and accurately before staying on so strongly she finished unchallenged.
The beaten jockeys came back saying their horses were unable to go the searching pace set by her. Yet Noel Fehily felt Desert Queen was just lobbing along in a nice rhythm, jumping and galloping at her own pace on good ground over a trip of two miles, six furlongs which seems ideal for her.
I was down at the start as a precaution because she has been a bit tricky at times but she jumped off smartly and was never headed on her way to recording our thirteenth success in January which is more than we have ever achieved before in one month.
One option would be to send her to Huntingdon in a month's time for the valuable Listed Lady Protectress Mares' Chase over two and a half miles.
