Phoenix qualifies for Pertemps
It was good to see Phoenix Way bounce back in triumph at Huntingdon after just over a year on the sidelines.
He was progressive last season before picking up a minor injury shortly after gaining his first victory over hurdles at Plumpton.
While it was frustrating that he needed time off he benefited from a break out of training and then had an easy couple of weeks in the autumn after we cauterised his palate.
He raced off a mark of 133 at Huntingdon, shouldn’t go up too much for this narrow success and will hopefully go straight to Cheltenham for the Pertemps Final.
Given that he stays well and is lightly raced we’d like to think he has a bright future.
