Caribert brings up Fehily's Century

Noel Fehily reached a century of winners for the season at Newbury on Saturday with a typically astute ride from the front on Caribert in the valuable Goffs UK Spring Sales Bumper.

The race has long been the target for the horse who is owned in partnership by Phil Fry, Charlie Walker and Osborne House.

Confident that Caribert stayed well and would handle the testing ground Noel sent him straight to the front, setting the fractions and controlling the race at a perfect tempo.

He is such a brilliant judge of pace he is a dangerous man to let loose on the lead and though Hotter Than Hell came out of the pack to try to mount a challenge in the straight Caribert kept on strongly with his ears pricked to win with something to spare.

It was a fine performance by an exciting young prospect who was giving fully 18 lbs to the runner up.

Although Caribert ran the opposition into the ground Noel suggested that he is not really a front runner and would probably benefit from having a lead.

An imposing stamp of a horse, he is very much a staying chaser for the future & he will now be put away for the season.
