Sting goes one better
Just A Sting delivered a timely Christmas present for the yard with a narrow success in the valuable Ladbrokes Handicap Chase at Kempton on Thursday.
With four horses in with a chance at the last fence it was always going to be tight and he dug deep on the run in to hold the late charge of Quarenta by a short head.
Just A Sting was second in this race a year ago before rather losing his way afterwards. He then made a promising return when fourth in the Badger Ales Chase at Wincanton though he would would have gone close but for mistakes at three of the last four fences.
This time his jumping was much better as he provided timely compensation for his owners Nigel and Barbara Collison after their useful staying chaser Acting Lass was just beaten in a valuable race at Ascot on Saturday.
While the ground was softer then ideal for him at Kempton he was able to cope with it and he could return to the same track on February 22 for the 888Sport Handicap Chase which we won with Opening Batsman a few years ago.
