Bags back in the Groove

It was good to see Bags Groove back in the winner's enclosure at Aintree on Sunday after his luckless run at Chepstow just over a fortnight ago.

He wasn't suited by the muddling pace that day because they dawdled along down the back straight before sprinting once they turned for home.

As he has been in fine form since then we decided to ride him more prominently this time in Sunday's £27,500 two and a half mile handicap on the good going that he appreciates.

Noel Fehily charted a fairly wide course on Bags Groove to make the best of the conditions and was happy to let him stride on into the lead before two out.

The horse found plenty in front and kept on well to beat Stamp Your Feet by two and a quarter lengths. Bags Groove had a progressive profile last season and we'll try to find another decent handicap for him in the next month or so before the ground goes against him.

He will then have a break during the worst of the winter before we look for suitable opportunities for him again in the spring.
