The spirited success of Innocent Girl at Taunton on Thursday took our score for the season to sixty.
But we were not really in the mood to celebrate after Royalzaro, our first runner of the afternoon, had to be put down after severing a tendon on his comeback from a break of 490 days.
It was desperate luck for a horse who had shown a fair bit of promise after winning two Point-to-Points.
Innocent Girl has been highly progressive since joining us in the summer.
She raced off a mark of 73 when successful on her debut for us at Southwell in October and was running off 105 when winning the novice handicap chase at Taunton under a really good patient ride by Kieron Edgar.
He is a good addition to the team and is deserving of more opportunities.
As Innocent Girl needs good ground she was given a mid winter break of almost five months once the rain came and was fresh and well ahead of Thursday and ready to go again.
We are half thinking of running her in a valuable mares' novice handicap chase at Cheltenham in April if she squeezes into the race at the foot of the weights.
If not then it's possible that she could try to take advantage of a lower mark of 87 over hurdles.
