Squeeze on a roll
Lightly Squeeze won his second race in four days with the minimum of fuss at Taunton on Monday.
We always felt he was quite well handicapped and he has finally come good in style over the Christmas holiday.
He was so impressive at Wincanton on Boxing Day that we felt we had to turn him out again quickly under a penalty at Taunton.
Ridden by Bryan Carver who took off a handy 3 lbs, Lightly Squeeze took the step up of three furlongs in his stride, travelled well through the race, led on the final bend, was clear two out and readily beat the consistent Twenty Twenty by seven lengths.
The handicapper has raised him to 120 after Wincanton and is bound to have his say again after seeing him defy top weight in style but the horse doesn’t get a penalty for this latest success as it was in a race for conditional jockeys.
So it is possible he could run again in another handicap on Sunday at Plumpton provided he comes out of his latest race in top shape.
We will monitor Lightly Squeeze closely over the next few days before making a decision.
